The Korea Tourism Organization offers a special package tour for Singaporeans tracing their prime minister's trip to the country last December.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited Korea for nine days and visited the mountainous eastern province of Gangwon, including the coastal city of Sokcho and historic Gyeongju. Lee's photographs of his trip on Facebook drew tens of thousands of likes.
On Saturday, 240 Singaporeans arrive in Korea to go on the tour, which costs W1.8 million per person (US$1=W1,182).
Yoon Seung-hwan at the KTO's office in Singapore said, "I was surprised to see 160 people sign up almost immediately we advertised the tour. Due to high demand, we decided to accept additional 80 more people soon after."
KTO head Jung Chang-soo said there will be more such celebrity-themed packages.
