It has emerged as one of the premier centers for business growth in

the Southeast

Gwinnett, one of the metro Atlanta’s fastest growing cities, has been

named America’s “Hottest Cities for Business Relocation and Expansion”

by Expansion Management magazine.

Its stable business environment, highly educated workforce, and high

quality of life have earned Gwinnett mentions in Newsweek, Money, and

Site Selection.

More than 23,000 businesses have already discovered Gwinnett’s appeal,

and as Georgia’s most diverse community, Gwinnett County is fast

becoming a global gateway to the Southeast where businesses are well

positioned for growth with strategic access to the world economy.

Indeed, global business and international ties are thriving in Metro

Atlanta’s most diverse county, and in particular, South Korea and

Gwinnett have been expanding on this relationship.

The relationship between Gwinnett County and Gangnam-Gu District,

Seoul, South Korea[Gwinnett’s sister-community since 2009]has been

fortuitous for Gwinnett County.

Dr. Daniel Kaufman, new president of Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce,

commented on the synergy synthesized by the connection, “It’s a great

partnership. This relationship increases foreign direct investment and

accelerates global business growth in the Gwinnett area. We will

continue to work with them in tandem to create more opportunities for

local business relationships in global market.”

The delegates for Gangnam-Gu first visited Gwinnett County in January

2008. The visit led to the signing of a sister-community agreement

between the Gwinnett County Commission and Chamber and Gangnam-Gu

District at Gangnam government offices in June 2009.

“The goal of our efforts is simple,” said Nick Masino, vice president

of Economic Development and Partnership Gwinnett, “We want to increase

foreign direct investment into Gwinnett County while seeking

opportunities for our existing industries to expand. Developing

relationships with our partners in Gangnam not only provides

international business opportunities, but also leverages two thriving

economies to support overall economic stability.”

Gwinnett’s policies create a welcoming environment for businesses.

Property tax abatements are designed to lower the real or personal tax

liability on the value of new investments made in Gwinnett County. In

addition to expediting the building permit and zoning processes, local

governments may choose to reduce or waive fees for development

permits, rezoning applications, and special use permits. Industrial

Revenue Bonds are also available through Gwinnett County’s Development

Authority. Revenue Bond financing includes up to $10 million in

tax-free bonds for the financing of manufacturing facilities and

equipment at lower-than-market costs.

Partnership Gwinnett [the community and economic development

initiative led by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce] works collectively

with local business, government, education, and community leaders to

support the growth and development in Gwinnett County.

Launched in 2006, Partnership Gwinnett is dedicated to bringing new

jobs and capital investment to Gwinnett County. It has worked with

local partners to attract and retain more than 13,000 jobs and

cultivate over $800,000,000 capital investment in Gwinnett County.

The target industries and focus areas of Partnership Gwinnett feature

Advanced Manufacturing & Supply Chain Management, Health Sciences &

Services, Information Technology Solutions, Global Business,

Entrepeneurship & Small Business, Redevelopment, Corporate

Headquarters & Professional Services.

“Target industry and Partnership Gwinnett programs and activities

connect you to the information that will enhance your business and

professional future,” said Nick Masino. “Specifically since the Korean

investment within Gwinnett has added new jobs, new opportunities and

in some areas have added value to areas that would have otherwise

struggled, Partnership Gwinnett pays sharp attention to Korean

businesses on a local and global market basis.”
